Tour of Cali and levi

Is it me, or is Levi really boring? The guy is the most boring one to watch in a bike race. Even in his interviews he has no expressions, no charisma or anything. He seems to not have the ability to inspire or have any type of affection. Okay ill speak for myself, he doesn't inspire me

its just annoying to watch him....okay im out to go racing in the rain out in Ontario.

His style (or lack thereof) may not be to your liking, but you gotta give the guy his props, RB!  He's beating some of the best cyclists in the world right now; without charisma even...He's obviously no Cipo and he probably wouldn't fit in personality-wise with your team, but a person's successes has a way of allowing people to deal with that person's quirks - good or bad...peace...

Yeah, he is pretty bland but he is typical of most riders in road racing.  That is why RR is so coolio, need some flava in the peleton! I will say he is a chump for trying to call a "time out" when Hincapie crashed last year going into SLO...wtf?! lol....

Levi does not need to have an ego but at least show some excitement for what you're doing. Everyone knows how good he is already.  I try to get family to watch cycling when it's on TV and if the top guy isn't really 'excited' about it it's hard to get new viewers interested. I cover my face when he talks because he makes it sound so boring and so many people think it's boring anyway.

Funny you should mention this. Last week a team mate and I were having this same discussion. We actually came to the conclusion that we find Levi to be really annoying. The guy may be cool and sh*t but he just fails to ignite excitement for me even when he wins. I mean look at Bobby Julich, pretty much same type of guy (low key, soft spoken...) but I really like Julich. Julich may not get all fired up but he at least registers a pulse. Levi on the other hand is just too bland for words. Just my 2 cents.

Man, I'm not totally not with y'all on this one...Next thing you know y'all be talking about the way he combs his hair - oops, did I say that?  LOL!  Really though, y'all are hatin' on a guy that deserves big respect for  his cycling abilities - this isn't the man version of Miss America fellas...You get no points for your song and dance routine or your philosophy on how to solve the world's problems...you are judged by the stopwatch and beating your opponents.  Everything else is just political B.S. in my opinion, and I'd much rather be judged by objecive criteria than subjecive B.S. any day of the week...I'm off my soapbox now...peace...

I wanst going to respond to any post on here I just wanted you all to have a open post about it HOWEVER I get one guy "Reg" to put out the "he's clean line". I wont point the finger and say if he is or if he aint, but what i do know is that if you think Rick James died of natural causes, then you would think this guy is clean.

Did ODB die from natural causes too??? wake up you guys. I had a girl in college that wanted to fight me because I told her the 7time tour winner was dirty. She really wanted to kill me!!

But we are all tittled to our own opinion. And Mr Zackery....I totally hear you but in the age where cycling is struggling, how do we convince fortune 500 companies to invest in a sport that has no champions that will inspire the youth of millions who are being influenced by material things?

I think anyone who follows the pro racing scene respectS what Levi has accomplished and saying he is dull doesn't take away from his accomplishments.  Not everyone can be personable but he is in the entertainment business (yes cycling is entertainment).  Just as he has learned to conduct an interview, he should try to develp some kind of on camera persona.  He races like a wheelsucker, and he has a ho hum personality..if he wasn't winning, hardly anyone would remember him and the press wouldn't seek him out for an interview...

I can understand where you old grizzled veterans are coming from.  However, I'm a relative newby to cycle racing so I'm more impressed with substance, at this stage in my development, than style.  RB, your comment makes sense about the sponsorship being attracted to personalities, but I think first and foremost sponsorship dollars are more impressed with winners - guys that are on the podium...I could be wrong though...peace...

Yea well, Mr. Bahati: It's pretty easy to say someone like Levi is boring when you get to travel around the country with a bus loaded with pretty models wearing tight ROCK & REPUBLIC Jeans. How long was that line at the Rock Racing Bus this weekend at Amgen Pasadena ...?
Why don't you school the man a bit on charisma, he could use a lesson or two!

Hmm....sponsorship dollars were sure sent Kournakova's way and she wasn't much of a "winner"..lol.

"Hmm....sponsorship dollars were sure sent Kournakova's way and she wasn't much of a "winner"..lol."

You must've thought long and hard on that one...anyway, why does Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan (even in retirement) garner so much in the way of endorsement dollars????  I think you can figure that one out...furthermore, to be more accurate - Kournikova is not a "personality", she appeals to your animal instinct only...

I"m not interested in a pissing match on this issue...I understand where you guys are coming from...peace

Levi is a very boring rider. He doesn't take many chances in big races, which I don't include ToC. In the Tour de France he just follows wheels because he's not a strong enough climber to drop any of the best. He's predictable. He's Wonder bread, but it's a formula thats proven successful for him. I like to see a little more personality from people.

I find this topic boring. I believe I saw you on stage with MB in Solvang presenting a check and I don't recall you having "energy" or being "inspirational". But I also didn't think it needed to be brought up just because I can type in a blog. Pointless commentary about a great athlete.

# "he's clean"

When someone says "I'm not really complaining, but..." READ, "I'm complaining..."

When someone says they are "not really pointing the finger, but..." READ, "I'm pointing the finger..."

You have to be careful who your "pointing the finger" at, because someone is probably pointing it at you.

If you have something proven to say about Levi, put it on the table.

Otherwise...Levi is a great athelete.

Reg, you may not notice how Levi rarely talks about doping and drugs in sport. Why do you think this is? In fact, when is the last time he has mentioned anything at all related to doping?

FACT: Levi has doped.

Many people don't know that Levi won the Elite National Criterium championships in 1996 when racing for Einstein Bagels. He tested positive after the race and had to forfeit the title. Interesting that Zabriske raced on that team them, also. Hmmmm.....He sure can time trial! Maybe it's just the altitude tent he sleeps in when home in Colorado.

RB, I'm with you on this one. Levi ain't clean. Never has been.

# Sexy Sells

Levi is boring,so was Lance, both representing a boring sport I love. You got to pay hot chicks to come to bike races. If you love to ride your bike ride go ride the MFer then, but if you want your sport to grow and get on the map we need personalities. Sexy ones you like, sexy ones you don't like. If I see another f'ing Subaru at a race i'm gonna vomit. Lance won 7 times and POKER and ULTIMATE FIGHTING are still more popular.

PS Doping and gas prices aren't going down or away. Catch the stupid ones, scare the smart ones with lifetime bans on the dumb ones, develop alternate fuels that can then start bending us over, I guess we'll feel better bio-fuels costing 6 dollars a gallon, than oil. (I would!)
