Lake Isabella

I got away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and took a 200 mile trip north to Lake Isabella which is right on the other side of Bakers Field. The average altitude here is around 300ft. Its a really cool/not so cool place to come train. The weather in the early mornings are a uncomfortable 30 degrees F.

I have been here for 4 days doing a 5 day block of 5hrs a day for 5 days. I took some pictures to try and show you what it looks like here.

Oh yeah, today I went up a climb that took me to 8000ft. It was super hard with the average grade being 13%. And may I add it was freezing cold with snow everywhere.

Yo, Mr. Bahati:

You know if you need a place to train for a week or so, you're always welcome to come up and stay at my place in Oaktown. You know the area and it would be nice to have you. It's not to cold up here and the rain is about to stop for a while - but a little rain won't stop you!

later and good luck this season!

Mr. Bahati:
That's funny you mentioned that visit and that race, i've got a picture in my office of you and Devon coming around a turn at that same Davis Crit. You guys were like 15 years old and racing against the cat 3's already. You or Devon won the Jr race earlier that day ... right? I also remember coming back from a training ride with you and Devon and asking to sprint you along the lake - you laughed as you pulled away and i was going 110%. You were polite. Remember the lady you stayed with in Grass Valley, June! She always asks about you. That was when we went up to do Nevada City - "the Mercury days".

Like I said - if you need a place to train for a week sometime - feel free to come up. Mi casa es su casa.
