Tour of America
The First Annual Tour of America
The Tour de France is a spectacular event that is followed closely by
many around the world. It brings together the best of the best in the
cycling world in a 3 week long grueling competition. Some of the very
best of this elite group in the world today hail from the United
States. The most famous cyclist in the world is still Lance Armstrong,
an American. Unfortunately, there is not a large enough cycling event
in this country worthy of assembling the world’s best talents, most of
whom are Americans. Isn't it time to bring such an event to this vast
country so Americans can experience and admire close up the amazing
talents and achievements of our own?
Aqu
Inc. plans to correct this shortfall. The company is committed to
organizing a yearly tour from the East Coast to the West Coast in the
same vein of the Tour de France. We believe that the country is ready
for just such a venture. The Tour de France will always hold the honor
of being the preeminent cycling race in the world. It is steeped in
history and pride that will be hard to rival. However, the Tour of
America will seek to replicate the pride and tradition of this
incredible event, but have it staged in the United States.
There
are two races in the United States that are making headway into the
world cycling psyche. They are the Tour de Georgia and The Tour of
California. The Tour de Georgia has been in existence for the last 5
years and each of those years has posted record audiences to its event.
The Tour of California posted record crowds of 1.3 million people for
its event in its first year of existence. This seems to reflect the
readiness of the country to embrace something on the national stage. We
plan to attract a national audience of 25- 30 million fans.
The
economic impact of the Tour de Georgia is estimated to be $26 million
for a week long race that covered 600 miles. The Tour of California
boasted an economic impact of $100 million to the state. The Tour of
America is longer and more grueling. The conservative projected
economic impact to the little communities that this event will traverse
through is in excess of $500 million.
