Latest! World Championship Sports Network Partners with USA crits Cycling Series
The WCSN USA Crits Finals will refine the elements
that make this form of cycling the most exciting and popular – speed,
color and action – add elements that only Las Vegas can provide –
glamour, glitz and Vegas flash – to create America’s greatest cycling
spectacle. The WCSN USA Crits Finals is the final race in the 2007 USA
Crits Championship Series and will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort
in Las Vegas, near Interbike’s home at the Sands Convention Center.
America has a rich history of criterium racing, a unique form of
cycling that stresses high-speed racing, contested amidst a thriving
urban atmosphere. Criterium racing’s ability to combine the most
exciting elements of popular sports with the large-scale appeal of
downtown arts and music festivals has made it the most enduring form of
cycling in North America with an ever-growing following of fans.
Because criteriums are historically run on short laps through city
streets, they offer spectators the opportunity to watch Olympians and
world and national champions up-close as they ride at top speed for up
to two hours. This has made the criterium format the most
spectator-friendly form of cycling. When staged according to the above
specifications, these races often draw more than 30,000 fans per
event. The races that form the USA CRITS series have been specifically
chosen according to the ideals that have made criterium racing an
American legacy: Challenging courses that showcase arts and
entertainment districts, a large and growing base of spectators, broad
community support, and strong opportunities for marketing partners.
These are that lead to the The World Championships Sports Network USA
Crits Finals.
The event will have Men and Women Pro-Class races, and for Interbike
exhibitors, an Industry Cup Challenge. The Pro-Women’s race will be at
6:15 P.M., the Industry Cup at 8:15 P.M., and the Pro-Men will race at
9:15 P.M. with an after party hosted at Mandalay Bay. The event will
feature a fast and technical 1-kilometer course held at Mandalay Bay.
