VOS Final Stage
Yesterdays race could have all come to one big nasty crit with threats of rain in the forecast. I crossed my fingers so hard because VOS crit sucks without rain and would be detrimental in the rain.
Anyways, the rain held off and the pace was pretty high early in the race as the promoter rang the bell lap after the lap with cool cash primes and nice merchandise primes as well. I stayed active early in the race because I really thought successful living would ride aggressive and try to get a group away from a solo rider who was leading the race…however they never really did.
With 6 laps to go, the whole team got on the front and started the lead-out for Kayle and I. Things are going pretty smooth until 2 laps to go, successful living did the blow by and about 20 guys swarmed me.
Now I’m yelling at Kayle to just follow our lead-out train and to not panic. It all worked out to our favor because they blew up and now we are right back on the front with a lap ½ to go. Going into the last lap, I still had 4 guys in front of me with Austin behind me sweeping my wheel. (Keeping guys off my wheel)
After Jeremiah pulled off, I told him to get right back on behind me to sweep some more. He did a beautiful job because when Mariano did his half lap pull, the paced picked up and guys were sleeping with the head down so Jeremiah sat up to force whom ever was behind him to make a drastic move. Well that person didn’t and we came into the last corner 1-2-3-4 and took the first three podium spots.
It wasn’t the fastest lead-out, but it was one of the prettiest ones I have seen in some time. This was out first time doing a lead-out and the young guys did their thing.
Our next race will be much harder, however its something we can do and I just want the team to know that. So getting a win under our belt was really exciting and served as a confidence booster going into some more difficult racing.
